Skanyl ("we", "us", the "App") is a 3D face‑scanning and self‑tracking app developed by Sly13. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App processes, how it is used, where it is stored, whether it is shared, and how long it is kept. We built Skanyl to be private by design: your face data never leaves your device.

Summary. Skanyl scans your face with your iPhone's TrueDepth camera and computes geometric measurements entirely on your device. Your facial scans, the 3D mesh, and the derived metrics are stored only on your iPhone. We do not upload, transmit, sell, or share your face data with anyone. You can permanently delete all of it at any time from Settings.

1. Face Data and Camera

What face data we collect

When you run a scan, Skanyl uses Apple's ARKit face‑tracking through the front TrueDepth camera to build a depth‑aware 3D mesh of your face. From that mesh the App computes geometric measurements (for example facial symmetry, thirds and fifths proportions, jawline angle, cheekbone width and eye spacing). The App stores:

the 3D face mesh geometry produced by ARKit for each scan;
the numeric metrics derived from that geometry;
scan metadata you generate in the App (date, notes, scan history for progress tracking).

Skanyl does not perform identity recognition and does not use Face ID authentication data. The TrueDepth camera is used only while you are actively scanning.

How we use face data

All face data is used solely to provide the App's features to you: to display your scan, calculate and show your metrics, build your personal history and progress charts, generate side‑by‑side comparisons, and create PDF reports that you choose to export. All of this processing happens locally on your device.

Whether face data is shared with third parties

We do not share your face data with any third party. Your face scans, the 3D mesh, and the derived metrics are never uploaded to our servers (we operate no server that receives this data), never sent to any analytics, advertising, or other service provider, and are never sold. The data does not leave your iPhone unless you yourself deliberately export and share a PDF report or a screenshot.

Where face data is stored

Face data is stored exclusively in the App's local storage on your device (using on‑device SwiftData and the device file system). It is not stored in any cloud service controlled by us.

How long face data is retained

Face data is retained on your device until you delete it. You remain in control at all times:

You can delete an individual scan from your history at any time.
You can erase everything — every scan, every 3D mesh file, and every preference — using Settings → Privacy → Delete all data.
Deleting the App from your device also removes all locally stored face data.

2. Other Information We Process

To run the App and offer optional subscriptions, a limited amount of non‑biometric information is processed by the following services. None of these services receive your face data, 3D mesh, or facial metrics.

Purchases (Apple & RevenueCat). If you buy a subscription or the lifetime purchase, the transaction is handled by Apple's App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives purchase/transaction information and a randomly generated, anonymous app user identifier — not your name and not your face data. Crash and stability reporting (Sentry). If the App crashes, anonymized technical diagnostic data (such as device model, OS version, and a stack trace) may be sent to Sentry to help us fix bugs. This diagnostic data does not include your face data, scans, or metrics.

3. No Accounts; No Tracking

Skanyl does not require you to create an account. We do not use advertising identifiers, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not build advertising profiles.

4. Children's Privacy

Skanyl is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

5. Your Rights

Because your data is stored locally on your device and not on our servers, you have direct and complete control over it. You can access, export (PDF), and permanently delete your data at any time from within the App. Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or biometric‑privacy laws such as BIPA), you may have additional rights regarding biometric and personal information; since we neither collect nor retain this data off‑device, deletion within the App removes the data entirely.

6. Security

Face data remains on your device and is protected by your device's own security (passcode, encryption, and app sandboxing provided by iOS). We recommend keeping your device updated and protected with a passcode or biometric lock.

Skanyl is for entertainment and self‑tracking purposes only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Metrics are aesthetic and educational, not clinical.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
