Privacy Policy for Yomiko: Japanese Reading

Yomiko: Japanese Reading ("we", "us", the "App") is a Japanese reading and spaced‑repetition study app developed by Vadim Semenko (Sly13). This Privacy Policy explains what data the App processes, how it is used, where it is stored, whether it is shared, and how long it is kept. The App is built to be private by design: your reading progress and study data stay on your device, and we do not require an account.

Summary. Your reading progress, saved words, flashcard deck, review history, chosen JLPT level and preferences are stored only on your iPhone. We do not sell or share your study content. The App processes a small amount of anonymous, non‑identifying diagnostic and usage information to run features, fix crashes, and manage subscriptions. Deleting the App removes all of your data from your device.

1. Data You Create in the App

As you use the App you build up study data: which stories you have opened and how far you have read, the words you tap and add to your deck, your spaced‑repetition (SRS) review history and schedule, your placement result and chosen JLPT level, your daily goal, and preferences such as the furigana toggle. This content is stored locally on your device (using on‑device SwiftData and the device file system). It is not uploaded to any server controlled by us, is not shared with third parties, and never leaves your iPhone unless you yourself deliberately export or share it (for example, exporting cards to Anki or taking a screenshot).

2. Information Processed to Run the App

To operate the App and offer optional subscriptions, a limited amount of non‑identifying information is processed by the services below. None of these services receive your reading content, saved words, or review history.

Analytics & diagnostics (Google Firebase). The App uses Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand how features are used (for example which screens are opened, or where users stop during onboarding) and to keep the App stable. Firebase may process anonymous identifiers (an app‑generated user ID and a device identifier), product‑interaction/usage events, and crash and performance data. This information is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
Purchases (Apple & RevenueCat). If you buy a subscription, the transaction is handled by Apple's App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives purchase/transaction information and a randomly generated, anonymous app user identifier — not your name and not your study content. 3. Notifications

If the App offers study reminders and you enable them, they are scheduled as local notifications on your device. They are generated and delivered on your device; we do not operate a push server that sends you marketing messages.

4. No Accounts; No Tracking

The App does not require you to create an account to read stories or study. We do not use advertising identifiers, we do not serve ads, we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not build advertising profiles.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Because your study content is stored locally on your device and not on our servers, you have direct and complete control over it:

You can remove individual words from your deck or reset your progress within the App.
Deleting the App from your device permanently removes all locally stored study content and preferences.

Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights regarding personal information. Since your study content is neither collected nor retained on our servers, removing it within the App or deleting the App removes it entirely. For the limited diagnostic and purchase information described above, you can contact us using the details in Section 9.

7. Security

Your content remains on your device and is protected by your device's own security (passcode, encryption, and app sandboxing provided by iOS). We recommend keeping your device updated and protected with a passcode or biometric lock.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
